I’m at a point where I don’t remember where I put things, I just know myself well enough to guess where I would put them
I missed two days of senior beach week because I was so afraid of losing my keys I put them in my shoe where I couldn’t possibly have forgotten them.
It’s amazing how long you can search for a ser of keys without ever needing to put your shoes on.
I’ve lived long enough to know that I need to have a system of: a place for everything and everything in its place.
… Now if I could only implement that, that’d be great…
There should be a small sliver saying “in my hand (I’m not aware of that)”
And one more for, “stuck it in the fridge I guess.”
Where are my glasses?!?
In the pantry where the cereal box goes.
I regularly wear safety glasses, and regularly put them up on my forehead when finishing a task. There are regularly already a pair of glasses up there when I put the ones I’m wearing up.
Having more than one copy of a tool is bad for me, because it allows me to not find it before grabbing the backup. The plus side is that once I’ve lost all the primary copies, I have to pay attention again because I only have one copy left.
On your face.
My pie chart of blame looks more like 90%/10%. Where if I simply set something down, even with the need to use it immediately, I lose it.
I rely heavily on my Wife to find things for me. Without her, I would lose my head.
Because I have ADHD, I have to designate special places for everything to keep them from disappearing.
They still disappear anyway. I don’t fucking get why.
Drives me crazy.
My hypothesis is that they hide. So I saturate all the hiding places so they have nowhere left to hide.
When I buy something known for liking to hide, I buy N of them and place them all in a designated “I’ve got N of these things” place (P). Then I put 1 in its home. When it hides, I get its replacement. When that hides, same again. When there are none left in P, I buy N more. Eventually they have nowhere left to hide and finding one is easy. Consequently, they stop hiding.
Sometimes I swear I must have spacial blindness. I can check an area 7 times and not see the thing I’m looking for even though it’s there.
I had this issue for a while but about a decade ago I stumbled upon someone who said “every thing should have it’s own home, and you put that thing where it lives” and it becomes somehow a lot easier.
Living with other people throws a spanner in the works but at least the thing is there much more often.
My closet is a cheap apartment the way I cram everything in there when out of space.
…I found it. You left it in Antarctica.
I’ve started taking photos of wherever I’ve put something important away for “safety”, because I always end up forgetting otherwise. I have a special folder in my gallery for this.
I can’t find my dog’s undercoat comb. I just used it like 3 days ago, and there’s only 2 places I ever put it. It isn’t in either place. 😮💨
My dog runs off with things sometimes and sometime things get slid under the couch so there are many more layers of lost. Also items sometimes jump into another dimension for a period of time only to reappear somewhere else.
It’s in your pocket. Yes it is, just check
