The thing that taught me this one was when people started writing smh my head. The stupid redundancy helped.

There are exceptions, but it feels like every flagship is trying to just make an android flavored iPhone.

BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Is this the end of Bootloader Unlocking in the EU?English4·2 days agoSome of those things have some minor benefit to some users. There are plenty of people who like the reduced thickness that removing some of those features provides.
The issue is that corporations like money, and the big money guy (apple) removed those things and made more money so all the other guys figured they could too if they just copied that. Now all of us have to deal with the reduced functionality and options.

The bridge architect? He designed a bridge that people jumped off of, so he’s at fault for sure.

BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was something that you thought was overhyped that actually lived up to the hype?7·6 days agoAt first it felt too hard, but I quickly realized I could mould it to whatever shape is most comfortable as I’m falling asleep. I often shape it to hold my neck in addition to my head.
I was looking for a pillow that doesn’t feel flat, I was using a memory foam pillow that would end up nearly flush with the bed by the time I woke up, which was really uncomfortable. The buckwheat in the pillow doesn’t really compress, so it stays firm and keeps it’s shape as long as you dont move too much.

BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Alabama toddler dies in hot car while in state custody3·6 days agoYou definitely included the employee’s low pay as context to consider. Another person likely would’ve prevented this from occurring, but the fact is that only one person was involved. The amount of pay that person received does not negate their failure to not kill a child. They could’ve been coerced into taking care of the child against their will and that would still not absolve them of guilt, in my opinion.
BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•Alabama toddler dies in hot car while in state custody61·6 days agoAh yes, the ol’, “I don’t get paid enough for this shit”, defence for letting a child die while in your custody. Solid.
No more than you’ve allowed the groupthink™ to dictate your opinion on the subject.
BananaIsABerry@lemmy.zipto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I just went onto reddit to a intrest subreddit which happens to be NSFW and i got this, fuck reddit im glad i quit it.English1·10 days agoAmericans are scared of sex education. The schools could just continue teaching it, but a lot of people don’t like that.
Barring terrible company policy, those people who can’t do more than allow the AI to think for them will find themselves out of a job pretty quickly if they can’t do the work themselves.
Bad employees and stupid people will always be stupid, the newest tech isn’t the cause of that. Maybe it lowers the bar of entry a bit?
Lastly, you’re clearly gatekeeping “the ability to critically think” based on some arbitrary conditions you made up based on “how things used to be”, so to speak. Maybe you could have used your superior boomer wisdom to figure that one out.
This still happens, you’re just old and cynical.
