Newsom’s aunt was married to Nancy Pelosi’s brother-in-law until they divorced, almost 50 years ago. This wouldn’t make him her nephew, even before the divorce, and there are more pertinent reasons to abhor both Pelosi and Newsom.
“Vote blue no matter who” got us Donald Trump, and a Democratic Party that barely makes a shadow effort to oppose him. I for one am finished with that.
It doesn’t matter.
If someone unearthed video of Trump raping an 11-year-old, Republicans would love him even more, his approval ratings would go up, leaders on the “religious right” would explain that it’s all Biblical, and Trump would successfully sue for the profits from video sales.
Sign me up. I’ll pay.
It’s not easy to shake off a lifetime of being told “Nobody’s above the law” and all that crap, but it is entirely crap. The rich and well-connected are miles above the law. It’s a miracle when any of them face justice, and it’s not happening in this case, certainly.
Oh, bullshit. His believers will believe what Trump tells them to believe.
I will not vote for Gavin Newsom.
Yeah, I got the Social Security scam/spam too. Probably everyone on Social Security got it.
It praises Congress for passing “the One Big, Beautiful Bill,” followed by a series of lies about the law’s impact, before ending with a wink and a nudge, claiming “Social Security remains committed to providing timely, accurate information to the public.”
In very small print at the bottom, it says, “This email was sent by the Social Security Administration, and was produced and disseminated at U.S. taxpayer expense.” There’s an ‘unsubscribe’ link, which, if clicked, probably cuts off your Social Security.
Sounds like a great ad for Mamdani!
What are the chances we’ll have an actual election in 2028? 50/50 seems optimistic.
I love ya, Mother Jones, but Marines sign up to follow orders. If they’re ordered to shoot me, they’ll shoot me.
This buffoon wants to be a wawtime pwesident.
The massive perk is that they get to be cruel bastards and hate for a living.
The Trump administration is planning to ramp up civil and criminal prosecutions of companies that employ workers without legal status, White House border czar Tom Homan said in an interview Wednesday.
Pure bullshit. At most, expect a few photo ops at small businesses owned by Democrats, but big picture the employer class is 95% Republican and will never face meaningful civil and criminal prosecutions for employing undocumented immigrants.
Of course, goes without saying that if they were, all of America’s undocumented immigrants would be gone in days, triggering massive inflation and an economic crash of 1929 proportions.
And I would add: Don’t give squat to the Democratic Party.
I’m also an old person who yells, and I agree.
Mostly, though, if we’re going to ‘modernize’ the system (with or without AI), it needs to be done smartly and methodically, and by people who aren’t philosophically opposed to Social Security’s existence.
What the fuck and why? What’s to be gained from this, for The Atlantic or its editor, Jeffrey Goldberg? Shit-can this dumb idea right here and now, please.
Rebuke away, ya dumb fuck Dems. What the young Mr Hogg is attempting — funding primary challengers to the most empty-suit Democrats — might be futile, might not, but you gotta respect the effort.
“Wake up, wake up,” he shouts at the corpse of the Democratic Party, which will probably wake up only long enough to smack him away, and then go back to sleep.
I’ll take good news with a swig o’ morning whisky, thanks.
