I use a system to remember passwords, it works quite well and they all are unique.

But your comment reminds me of my latest annoyance: email addresses. It isn’t enough to use different passwords for every account, I now am using different emails for every account. Because companies should be encrypting my password AND my email address. Basically once a breach occurs that email is now garbage because it is a target.

So now password managers are a requirement because I want something more obtuse than email+website@mydomain. rotating domain names, rotating emails, its all a pain in the ass.

Yes I know it is extraordinarily popular in many places of the world. Mine included. The hardest part isnt friends, it is businesses.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but that is a fairly large number (I think Microsoft SQL is limited to 2000 or something like that) AND this seems like a terrible design pattern.

Left because of XP. Win 2000 was fine. XP started all of the crap. It was when you needed to have a corporate key to actually control the computer and have all the features that win 2000 did. The colors were awful and the design was piss poor of course, but I could have dealt with that.

This was when Microsoft began introducing online accounts. They started trying to really wedge explorer into everything. You could buy music online with them, but ONLY with explorer. There were three programs that were forced on everyone (I forget what they are now). People didn’t like it so they gave people a “remover”, and was supposed to remove those programs. Except they lied, and all it did was hid the icons.

The writing was on the wall. Win XP was when MS jumped the shark and began the decline. I could see it in real time and wanted nothing more to do with them. So Linux it was.

Jokes aside, the emergency broadcast system makes so much sense as a function of public broadcasting. I have been to several countries that explicitly subsidize radio and tv channels for this purpose. You can have public programming 99% of the time, and a way to get information out in an emergency all ready to go.

I noticed. When Windows XP came out I saw the enshitification right away. Never mind the play-skool colors and complete lack of security. I couldn’t believe that people were going to be willing to use that crap.

I moved away from it for me and my business fairly quickly, and that was that.

I did notice over the years as winxp went away in public spaces and hotels. It was always kind of nice to know there were free to use computers out in the wild if one wanted to use them. XP was never able to be locked down, so you could bypass any login and just use it if you wanted to. Never for anything important, but I could always load up some games on the hotel one and let the kids play on it for fun for example.

I appreciate the feedback. We both agree that American is the worst, and I think that is true.

I don’t fly as often as you, but I fly internationally and of the US airlines, Delta has been the most consistent for me. But then again, I still am bitter after getting stuck in an airport at 2 AM (flight was at 10) because United kept saying this plane will leave, just wait. They knew the whole time it was not going anywhere after I talked to some people that work there.

I have been stranded by many airlines, for many reasons, but rarely has one been so bold.

Cheap tickets, and yet the longest travel time ever. No more showing up at the airport and walking onto the plane in less than 20 minutes anymore.

They sure seem to suck less than the others. American? Never. Do they just hate customers? United…if I have to.

You have a choice. You don’t have to use it. People managed for thousands of years, you can too.

I have family around the world. Some said they can’t change, that’s on them. Others did and that’s fine. But nobody is going to if you cave and enable them to just keep doing it.

Some have gone with signal, a group of people decided to do video chats with jisti. My family is all over the world so I understand why SMS is not an option.

But again, I don’t care. Whatsapl is not an option. If people don’t do it, well that is their problem. I never will need to communicate with someone badly enough to use WhatsApp.

I also am in the real world. I don’t need banking apps on my phone. WhatsApp is a terrible choice, so inwouldn’t use it. You don’t need these things you want these things.
