  • I’ve met people like that too.

It’s called cheating, lots of people do it.

Most worthless dev I’ve met was a graduate of comp sci who couldn’t hold a candle compared to a guy that did a dev boot camp.

The best dev I’ve met so far didn’t even have any credentials whatsoever, second next best did 2yr associates.

Tie for 3rd best with associate’s and 4yr degree.

  • If anyone’s wondering why you would do this as a musician.

Obviously you can visualize how you’d play something, but skipping the obvious things…

You can do music theory analysis on pieces you’re interested on, it’s something that helps later with improvisation or composition

It also helps you understand the style you’re studying a bit more, it takes a lot of effort although with years of experience you can probably analyze a piece of music fairly fast, and on the bus even

  • I share my dotfiles, I don’t see anything intimate or personal in there. I share them because other Linux enthusiasts have asked about what to use or how I config it.

It’s in my GitHub but what I don’t do is share my GitHub publicly, mostly cause it links me from my shit posting social media where I’m too open about things, into the work and irl landscape.

I like to keep those things separate.

  • that’s fine but it also kind of sounds terrible or too “plastic”, I’m thinking of buy an electric drum set and learning drums and through learning I’ll be able to pick through the samples I like using and in turn that ends up kind of pre-mixing some of my drum recordings (if it gets to that)

I know what you mean though, I’m on Linux so the options for those I’m not sure is the same as windows. addictive drums might just not work

  • I play guitar, piano and bass? recently got one and started building basic competency skills.

I’ve been playing for like 15 years, terrible still but that’s what makes it fun for me.

I’m interested in recording things but just get too overwhelmed with thinking about using midi drums or synths, the fun part for me is playing over things not necessarily mixing and mastering them. It is something I’m overall interested in.
