I bet they would just ask their ISP and track all their internet traffic from a comfortable bureau somewhere.

This feels like the XKCD comic:

You can still create a system in which not even you know the password if the right conditions are met.

Like, you didn’t authenticate in 3 days, the master encryption key is now overwritten and noone can decrypt it.

Though this would be a very unstable system, a slight mistake and you have to start over, having lost all data.

It’s literally the exact opposite. This guy isn’t a ghost. He’s a fucking beacon.

Want to be as stealthy as possible? Then be as “normal” as possible. Use only corporate social media and use it frequently. Pay for Adobe Reader. Engage in celebrity gossip and drama.

And then, once you have manufactured this persona, you can actually remain hidden from surveillance and do whatever you want to remain hidden.

If this guy uses standard ISP-provided DNS resolvers, authorities could just pull the DNS logs and find the DNS queries matching Discord domains. I’m sure no mom of an adult child really uses Discord.

honestly, though, don’t forget how dangerous/irritating you can be to an authoritarian, paranoid surveillance state by merely being a waste of their time.

If they’re nazis, then clearly the morally correct thing to do if you can’t punch them is to annoy them in some manner.

Slowing down their “progress” is better than annoying them. Especially if you can do it without raising suspicion or too much annoyance, add friction wherever possible.
