To be clear, it’s the majority party that’s pro-Israel, while the PASOK party (Haris Doukas, the guy in the picture’s party) is highly critical of Israel. So, this aligns with the stance of his party, in spite of the Greek government’s stance. The way you worded it makes it sound like he’s just trying to score points, but he and his party are genuinely pro-Palestine.
I do believe that PASOK’s tone would be different if they were currently the ruling party, because they’d have more to lose, and that ND, the current ruling party, would be more critical of Israel to gain points.
However, this guy seems genuine enough from what I read, and by that I mean ND aligned media scolded him heavily for what he said, so he must be doing something right to piss them off.
