The victim has been disproportionately inconvenienced to GREAT irritation. The plate can be replaced quickly and at very little cost. The microwave is in no way damaged permanently, and indeed will still work without the plate.

Yet therein lies the absurdity. Someone went out of their way to steal your turntable. It has zero value to them. They cannot resell it or use it themselves, as all microwaves come with one.

Ah, I wondered. Are they available for separate sale, or are you stuck going to Goodwill then?

The joke is that you can’t just buy the plate > in a quick manner and must order the replacement and will have to just…suck it up. And the absurdity of what such a theft entails.AFAIK the plates are not standard (probably proprietary to that model/brand) so by taking it you probably have to get a whole new microwave if you want it back.

I know its funny and witty to quote 1984, and force it to fit but I think about this one a lot more than the others that we like to throw around at things we simply do not like. By gutting funding and selectively enforcing rules, things like the EPA do effectively begin to actively work counter to their names.
