As someone that has been to a bazillion fests, burning man never really sounded like one I wanted to go to. Maybe 30 years ago, but it sounds like its all techbros.
Like three days after ‘normalizing trade with the EU’, it’s right back to antagonizing and tariff threats. Who could have seen this sudden reversal coming?
Saw Ken Klippenstein post that schumer hasn’t held an interview in over two months. Completely turtled up after the book tour fiasco.
He is building a military confrontation with anyone and everyone he can, hoping something will stick.
If anything, Epstein is the distraction. Not one piece of new information has come out in years. People made fucking jokes about lolita island 20 years ago. His supporters do not care. At all. All this does is fire up the conspiracy folks, who all support him and will continue to support him.
Trump takes over a police departmment and sends national guardsmen, with weapons now, to police the streets. ‘But what about the thing everyone on this planet has known about forever?’ Motherfucker has video of him talking about his good friend who ‘likes girls on the younger side.’ We already know. Shut the fuck up with this distraction shit.
I wondered about that DFL part, and yeah misses the mark even more with that piece of history added.
It’s a real shame all these technical failures and procedural mistakes keep happening whenever a progressive wins in the party. I’m sure someone that givesomefucks will be around any minute to tell us all that the new DNC is all about undoing the wrongs of the past and that is why the top brass are such sticklers now.
If you thought Chipotle was known for its salmonella outbreaks before, just wait until a wrap spends 30 minutes floating through hot summer air before getting eaten. Hope they have more than just thin insulation on whatever bag they use.
True Detective: Mandy
link to an MSN article that has the video, since the only other embeds I can find are twitter links right now.
Basically, some WH press pool lady from foxnews gave the rundown of the event right after it happened. Her blunt summation of the event was ‘it was not good, it did not feel like things went well, it seems Putin came in and Steamrolled, got his photo and left.’ She then immediately rips into the fact that the US is the host nation and yet Putin came up to the podium and spoke first, in russian, which is just not how it happens. Basically laid out that even Trump’s friendly network realized just how fucked this situation was.
For the other part of my comment about them getting chewed out, she wasn’t involved in that, but at least one reporter mentioned the admin folks (leavitt et al) as leaving the behind closed doors meeting with ashen faces; meaning whatever we didn’t see was worse than having a foreign dictator come in and publicly flaunt all diplomatic norms while our president paced the red carpet like a dog.
Yep. Everyone in that room was owned, but didn’t think much of what that meant until then. That one report by the fox news lady right afterwards was blunt as hell when describing the whole situation. ‘It was not good.’
I’ll never forget when my dad, who absentee votes by mail in NC, explaining to me that statewide voting by mail is dangerous. No actual claim of anything, just random shit like ‘how do they know where to send the ballots?’ After spending like 20 minutes describing how simple Oregon vote by mail is, as well as safeguards, and he still just couldn’t get it. Which is how so much misinformation is spread. Covid was the same way. There is so much ‘I don’t know how a thing works, so that means no one knows how this thing works’ in this country that it hurts my head.
Oh, haha, carry on then.
If you want me to list the myriad ways that I want humanity to use less water, I can. This just happens to be top of the list because it has no fucking value at all and is expected to use even more than the others.
I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say here, other than you use chatgpt and want to stan for it. Ask it to compare the water use to human counterparts, whatever you mean by that. Or really, don’t because the water that would waste is certainly not worth it.
I believe the OP was referring more to consumers of ai in the statement, as opposed to people trying to sell content or whatever, which would be more in line with what you’re saying. I agree with both perspectives and I think the Op i quoted probably would as well. I just thought it was a good description of some of the why ai sucks, but certainly nit all of it.
Someone on bluesky reposted this image from user @yeetkunedo that I find describes (one aspect of) my disdain for AI.
Text reads: Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be. The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with.
The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization.
In every case, they’ve handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it’s done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape. You’re just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.
Also, water. We’ll take all of that please, just pipe it right over to our spot in the desert. We’ll need some more money with that, of course.
Haha, I used the comma to take out the question mark. Its like I before E except after always.
Hell yeah, any decent DA could indict a ham sandwich, but not over this ham sandwich bullshit.
