Ah yes, the famously communist Russian Federation. The RF is nakedly an imperial fascist regime that doesn’t even have communist window dressing, it boggles the mind that self-proclaimed communists and anti-imperialists support them.

  • I didn’t say how optimistic i am, just that we are not special in our interaction with the biosphere - not at all. The tragedy is that we are the first that have enough intellect to reflect about those facts, so we are the first that even have the possibility to escape the cycle. if not, we probably will be reduced to scavengers, just like the bacteria in the juice bottle.

  • our species isn’t more or less terrible like any other species on this planet that was able to utilize ressources better. for example trees: when they came along the absolutely strangled the planet, until their waste product (oxygen) became so concentrated that todays humans would die of it. even their corpses littered the floor in meter thick layers! (that’s what todays coal is). I’m pretty sure that during this change biodiversity took a hard crash until life was able to adapt.

this continued until finally a bacterium developed the ability to degrade cellulose. i’m pretty sure the trees weren’t too happy about that one, it must have been a massacre.

the same story happens in every bottle of juice: bacteria grow inside, exhausting all available ressources, culminating in a mass dieoff with a few scavengers left over. It’s just a question if our intelligence allows us to take a different path or not.

  • dude, i will not engage with your brainrot. i don’t support the fucking IDF, go bash your head against some other wall.

I never said that i don’t question what i heard, stop imagining things. What i’ve heard makes a lot of sense tho, like the chinese bothering Uyghurs even in europe and threatening their families in china to keep them silent. there is just too much evidence for behaviour like that from multiple sides. not everything about china is bad (there is good in nearly every country), and they’ve done a lot to improve the average life there, but they mess too much with their citizens for my liking.

and if you start defending the DPRK here, i’ll laugh your ass outta here. This poor excuse for a country is a private kingdom for a corrupt family with underfed and brainwashed victims as citizens. I will not lose a word more about this blemish on the surface of our planet.

Regarding immigration into Europe: it’s a shame, but you can’t help everyone if it costs you everything. Europe has quite a lot of immigration, which i am fine with, but with the current sinking living standards it’s a hard sell for the citizens to import a lot of people which have no cultural overlap with europeans, which empowers fucking nazis; i’d rather not have a society split between fundamentalists and right wing parties. the tragedy of the commons applies here fully - if the borders are opened completely, it would destroy exactly the thing the immigrants want to have - a stable society.

isn’t it better there if i take you by your word? go live your life in your imagined utopia and leave us alone with your propaganda - if you want to have a society like the chinese have, its right there, you don’t have to spread it where noone wants it.

And the fucking point is that i don’t get banned if i say something that doesn’t fit in db0’s worldview, not like dessalines and other mods on .ml

  • i prefer the reality where Authoritarianism is bad, including from

    • US Nazis
    • Zionist-Nazis
    • Russia (don’t have to type the nazis out here, thats currently a bog standard feature)
    • China (those are more like stasi than nazi)
    • DPRK (those are a fucking cult)
    • or from dessalines (coder with delusions of grandeur with a hard-on for Putin and the DPRK)

And if you classify being pro europe as an issue - one of the few areas on the northern half of the planet where you can mostly (sadly not completely) live your life without the state trying to fuck you over and still provide decent living standards - then you can just fuck off into one of the areas mentioned (except you are already living in dessalines little kingdom, so i would expect you to try out the real thing next, eh?) and see if i care.

  • Macrophage is just another name for the “common” white blood cell. They are the cells that eat up bacteria and viruses, and are part of the general immune system. The general immune system can deal with the everyday stuff - the pathogens you are exposed to every day, for example low levels of bacteria, but they also are involved in cleaning up the remnants of dead cells. they engulf their targets and break them down (for example using H2O2). If they can’t keep up, they summon additional help, and part of that is that white blood cells travel to the lymph nodes and there present fragments of the intruder on their surface. (nearly all cell types present fragments of what they break down on their surface, but normally those are only their own stuff, which is ignored by the immune system)

The immune cells then start producing antibodies - at random, until one of the antibodies sticks to the fragment presented. The cell that produced this successful antibody then continues to make more of them - the antibodies themselves are like “little flags” that mark targets. Like i said before, nearly all cells present parts of what they have inside of them to the outside - the flood of antibodies is now able to mark all infected cells in case of a virus infection, or mark bacteria. After the infection subsides, the cells that produced antibodies becomes dormant - it is now a memory cell, which can be rapidly reactivated if the same pathogen shows up again, you are now immune.

Measles don’t get broken down in macrophages - their capsule is adapted to that process. instead of getting broken down, the virus infects the cell, which still wants to show that it caught something. in the lymph nodes the virus breaks the macrophage open, infecting the immune cells that are amassed there, and this includes the memory cells. After a while the immune system becomes able to kill off the measles, but by that time the damage is done and your immune systems memory is wiped out.

Mumps and Rubella work differently - that those are in one vaccine has more to do with that the three vaccines don’t interfere with each other, and that the immunity imparted by the mother wears off around that time and the child’s immune system takes over, enabling a immune response.

  • Measles use your macrophages as a taxi to your lymph nodes so they can attack the immune system and the memory cells which are responsible for the immune reaction against everything you already encountered in your life - after an measles infection you count as immune suppressed for about an year, and people who caught the measles lose all or most immunities imparted by prior infection or vaccination. Studies have indicated that up to 90% of child mortality in 3rd world countries have a connection to a prior measles infection, even if the child survived the measles themselves. That makes the current measles outbreaks that started occurring in the last years pretty scary; in london there are only about 60-70% of all people vaccinated, which is not enough for a herd immunity that protects people who cannot get vaccinated.

I hope it was interesting! I love talking about such stuff, was sitting here with a smile while typing, thanks for listening :-)

  • For example when i start talking about biology and cell mechanisms, or when explaining how i fixed some technical issue that popped up. In the past I wasn’t able to stop, but i’ve learnt my lesson and when i see that i’ve exceeded the maximum talking time (mostly on her face) then i stop talking. Those things aren’t stuff that she does know about, but she’s not very interested in those things.
