If blocking certain resources on the internet is an issue, you could torrent public keys, use tor, use i2p, or worst case scenario deliver a USB drive to your friend’s door.

MS said they fixed it and categorised it as a “moderate severity vulnerability” so presumably they did in fact gain root access to the container

Paypal is bad, but I’ve not heard of it blocking accounts just for people being queer. That seems like it would lose them a lot of customers—not because of backlash, but because a lot of people are queer.

You can still send them money even if they can’t sell their games. e.g. they could have a ko-fi or paypal or something. As for finding new stuff, I suppose it’d have to be word of mouth unfortunately.
Sorry not sure I understand. Are you saying you don’t know who the authors are? You could look up the name of the game and find usernames and give them a message. I imagine most of them are on social media somewhere, or have email addresses, etc.
Aside from the fact that it was stored in a public database, there’s no need to store photos of the IDs at all. The account can just be marked as verified and move on.
Also I doubt that measure would keep a man out if he really wanted to join…

If you’re concerned about SteamOS snitching because Valve I don’t know why you’d consider Windows which has proven extensive telemetry.
You shouldn’t “trust” as a basis for security or privacy. Eg for protonmail, Proton can still read your incoming emails if they arrive unencrypted; the only way to avoid that is to send E2EE email, which unfortunately most email is not. You should assume that if they can, then they are.
If you have to use proton for whatever reason (can’t afford to pay to self-host things, don’t know how to and don’t have time to learn, etc), it’s perfectly fine for everyday use for things that are not particularly sensitive ie you don’t have a highly resourced state actor actively trying to obtain that data. Just always keep the first thing in mind. Too many people treat anything that calls itself “encrypted” as a silver bullet.
But also for normal users it’s annoying as if you’re in the middle of something like filling out a form, clicking onto the next page will tell you you need to restart your browser, and you lose your progress. So yeah, I’m happy about this change.

Yeah but in the past few months ive consistently found Swedish Mullvad servers to work (occasionally blocked but if you refresh the page it’s unblocked) whereas the Swiss servers, which I used to use, have been fully blocked for quite a while. I’m sure it’ll change in due time but for now that’s what’s been working. And I have found this for all the Swedish servers I’ve tried and all the Swiss servers I’ve tried. Only tried Mullvad servers as that’s the VPN I use.

Problem with that is that the capacity of optical media is pretty small. I used to use optical media to back up my personal data but stopped pretty quickly as I was running out of space.
FreeTube has been working for me with Mullvad VPN set to Swedish servers. Also https://inv.nadeko.net/ if I need to share links with anyone.
It was obvious to me. Even without the context of being posed to linuxmemes it’s a silly-sounding story. Not sure why so many people in the comments seem to be taking this seriously—even if they couldn’t tell the original was a joke, it’s posted to a memes community.

GOS is really nice. It’s very seamless and user-friendly, whilst still being very unbloated and minimal. You still have everything you’d expect to have on a phone but the environment is nicely minimal and lets you only install the software you want.
I’ve been using GOS as my exclusive mobile OS for many years, never had any technical problems with it.
You can use bluetooth headphones or usb-c headphones. Including the bluetooth headphones google sells. Afaik they are still just bluetooth headphones.
