The man in charge of the largest military in the world (who is currently testing the limits of his ability to deploy the military for domestic law enforcement) thinks I should be publicly executed for being a gender traitor. How fun and cool.

Awesome, thanks! Sounds like just what I’m looking for
Well, for me personally, since I’m an anarchist, I’d rather have neither. Power corrupts, and giving too much unchecked power to any individual will lead to harm. Even FDR, one of America’s “best” presidents, also oversaw redlining and the Japanese internment camps.
Ah yes, Eisenhower, famously a good guy for running fucking Operation Wetback.
The ‘if’ in ‘if the SAVE Act goes through’ is doing a lot of work. The recent bill that was passed was only able to be done through budget reconciliation, because you only need 50 votes plus the VP to break the tie. But for bills outside of budget reconciliation, you need 60 votes to end the filibuster. Barring anything unforeseen (recognizing that breaking norms is the norm for this administration), there’s no way I could see it getting through the Senate.
Is the protective order to protect you from someone, or is it meant to protect someone from you (unjustly, it would seem you’re saying)?
And I understand it’s frustrating to feel like people aren’t giving you the help you’re looking for. But I think the folks saying “I am not a lawyer, and you need a lawyer” are just trying to be responsible, because especially when it comes the law, being or having a relevant expert is important.
Cool. Elections are administered by the states though, and my state guarantees mail-in ballots in the constitution. Sooooo, good luck with that, I suppose?
No, it’s around a 45% hike. If you go by the total cost for each, it’s a 59.48% increase. But that ignores that the package on the right weighs more to start with - 4.88 lbs vs 4.48 lbs. If you compare the unit prices, the increase from $10.99 to $15.99 per lb is really 45.5%.
If you add the words “liberal, capitalist” in front of democracy, I agree with you. But I believe that democracy as a whole is a worthy ideal worth striving towards, in all areas of public life.
Yeah, I agree that the left and liberals are broadly opposed to AI, and the right dove in headfirst. I just don’t get how lacking the ability to spew shitty cat videos and deepfakes means we on the left are hampering our own progress.
Falling behind in what way? Financial advantage? I’m not sure that the left have ever had that. How would adopting AI aid the left’s cause?
I mean, you can say that, but without a clear line of argument explaining why that’s the case, I remain unconvinced.
But it’s the exact same comment on so many posts. It doesn’t need to be a bot or AI doing the posting for it to be spam.
I understand you feel it’s relevant and important, but what you are doing is pretty much the definition of spamming.
Can you explain in what way it is not spam?
It feels early to call AI triumphant. The bubble is going to burst sooner or later
Oof, that sucks. Ballot initiatives have been huge for progressive victories. It’s how Michigan legalized cannabis and put abortion rights in the state constitution. It’s a shame they aren’t everywhere.
It happened here in Michigan a few years ago. It took a ballot initiative, but it’s made a positive difference - it broke the Republican gerrymandered grip on the legislature
I read it a couple years ago, but Doppelgänger by Naomi Klein. It did such a good job helping me understand what happened with the conspiracy mirror world that rose up during Covid.
More recently? Yes, You Are Trans Enough by Mia Violet helped me come to understand myself a lot better.
I’d sure like us to stop it one way or the other. I’m less concerned with exactly how we get there, as long as I don’t end up publicly executed.
