Is this remake or a story continuation (unrelated to the book)?
Remember, we got to loop it through Jones!

I gave up after the third episode. And it took a lot of effort to watch E02 and E03.
This is the first Alien production where I didn’t really care what was going on.
I don’t mind a novel take on a series, but this was merely a “mainstream adaption for a streaming service” production. I am good.
I clarified what I meant by economic dead end. It’s not going to happen tomorrow or even in ten years. But absolute corruption, rollback of democracy and a population where a large number of people support crime and corruption will have a caustic effect in the long term. It’s a straw man to suggest that I was claiming an immense collapse in American economic might.
At one point the “sun never set on the British empire” and now the British empire is no more. There are also examples of economies that were once top end, but are now closer to middle income.
I don’t think you understand the extent to which American “soft power” is being eroded right now. What countries have you lived in? What languages other than English do you speak? Do you have close friends in other countries?
Of course America is major economy, that doesn’t mean the rest of the world doesn’t exist. Just look at the state of Chinese products in the early 2000s and where they are now.
People don’t like thugs and liars, especially ones who are constantly parroting polemics about “freedom for this and that” while engaging in criminality and opposing democracy.
Not an Apple user, so I didn’t know about this. Extremely disappointing.
It really does seem avoiding any and all American services/products (to the extent possible, with exceptions where reasonable) is the only way forward.
I am increasingly coming to the conclusion that the US is a ethical, cultural and even economic dead end. Yes even economic, only a fool would believe intense corruption and broad support of criminality and corruption among the population will not have any negative effects in the future.
Wait, what the hell?
I can’t believe this, who the hell are they to decide what I should install?
They are welcome to curate their own store, but sideloading concerns only the user.
Hopefully, the EU and other jurisdictions block this.
Fucking corrupt American oligarchs.
Instead of watching this I would recommend the 90s show Total Recall 2070:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Total_Recall_2070
It’s not that well know and it’s a great cyberpunk show.
What happened to Dexter: The Killer Haemorrhoids S69?
Leaving Las Vegas was also really good.
I liked S02 much more than S01.
S01 is better made and more consistent, but I thought the theme and the ending of S02 was pretty unique for an American series.
S04 was OK and had a good start but IMO it went nowhere. S02 (and S01 for that matter) had a much more coherent beginning, middle and end structure.
Watched E01 and E02, this was the first Alien production where I didn’t care what was going on.
Way too much quirkyness, faux-edgyness and Peter Pan “appeal to YA demographic” BS.
Lots of annoying, lazyily written characters (trillionaire kid, flea market Roy Batty, prince Hermit in the magical plot armour).
I don’t mind a completely novel take on Alien (big fan of Aliens: Phalanx even though its very YA and Alien: Isolation), but the execution of Alien: Earth reeks of the feces of Disney executives.
It though it was fine.
It helped that seasons in The Wire were somewhat independent.
From the thread someone else posted, it sounds like he thought of himself as an internal victim.
Damn, that’s rough. It’s even worse than I imagined.
insufferable twat
What made you think that? Just curious, I am not surprised.
Wow, that’s pretty crazy.
I strongly prefer the “monster of the week” episodes of X Files to the story arc stuff.
The self contained episodes were fun and had a defined beginning, middle and end.
Honestly, if you are going the Linux route, you might as well get a headless Linux setup (no GUI, just command line), install qbittorrent-nox and access qbitborrent via the webUI.
You will save a massive amount of RAM, desk space and probably even CPU time.
Oh wow, didn’t know it was coming soon.
I just bought a copy of the second book, need to figure out whether I want to power through it before season 3 starts.
Don’t know what country you are in, but it might be worth considering try to get the torrent without a VPN.
Chances are if it’s extremely rare/obscure stuff, it’s not going to be tracked by a copyright enforcement agency.
I don’t mind new takes on a series and even occasional inconsistencies and unbelievable moments. For example, I really enjoyed the Aliens: Phalanx novel even though it suffers from many of the same issues I noticed in the first three episodes of Alien: Earth (distracting YA themes, unbelievable plot devices, plot pacing), but it offered it’s own experience. While reading the novel, I was curious about the world, I wanted to find out what happens next.
I just didn’t feel anything while watching the first three episodes, it felt like some random scenes without much point other than to make a somewhat generic Alien themed streaming mass market action-scifi show.
I might check out E05 at a later date. But for now, the series is on hold for me.
I will note that I didn’t watch Foundation (not interested in watching a random show with a Foundation setting, it’s like reading a fanfic) and I immediately dropped The Man in the High Castle after 1-2 episodes once I realized they merely took the setting and completely ignored the main point of the book.
