The absolute low of this for me is that I’ve noticed people censoring the word ‘porn’. You’re obscuring the word that describes the already censored thing, why censor the word itself? It’s not even a swear word (which to me don’t make much sense in censoring in the first place)

If you try to control information by omission and restriction, you only make it more appealing as it seems like a cover-up. Example: how many times have you heard of the Epstein files in recent months and years? It could’ve been a grocery shopping list and the effect would’ve been the same because of how it’s been handled.

To elaborate, as the previous reply stated, running the cracked programs inside a virtual machine allows you to isolate an environment specifically for this usage. Configured properly (another reply went into more detail here), even if the cracked software has something malicious, it can’t harm you. So you can safely ignore wether there’s a virus or not.

Run it inside a VM? If you’re suspicious or just worried, this would resolve most if not all of possible worries you may have.

I think this highlights the big problem with Op’s question: it’s not all about plot, character development can be as satisfying and as important even if the world objectively doesn’t change.

Yes, I get it, both your and @stoy 's response. It’s why I say I don’t think it’s the wrong move considering. it just feels like the world is moving backwards. I grew up in a mostly demilitarised, increasingly inclusive Europe, naively believing we’re moving past all that crap. Yes, it seems I wasn’t a very bright child.

What do we get in return though? An enormous pile of debt, which will inevitably go towards increasing inequality like these things tend to do. Militarised Europe with a toothless corrupt government and disjointed member states. Worsening relations with the most war hungry nations in the world. Brilliant!

I’m not saying it’s the wrong move but I find it hard to love any of it. We’re talking about wars, international tension, instability and unpredictability.
