  • A king once summoned a wise man who had done him a great service and said, “Name your reward.” The wise man replied, “Your Majesty, I ask for a simple thing. Give me one percent Linux desktop market share for the first square of the chessboard, two percent for the second square, four percent for the third square, and so on, doubling the amount for each of the 64 squares.” The king, thinking this was a modest request, said, “Surely you jest! Such a small reward for such a great service? Ask for gold, land, or jewels instead.” But the wise man insisted, and the king agreed. The king ordered his treasurer to calculate the total. Starting with 1% for the first square, 2% for the second, 4% for the third, 8% for the fourth… by the time they reached the tenth square, they needed 512% of the desktop market. The treasurer, pale with realization, informed the king that by the 64th square, they would need more market share than could possibly exist in the entire universe of computing devices. The king then understood that what seemed like a humble request was actually impossible to fulfill, and he gained a new respect for the power of exponential growth.

Wait till you guys hear of Christmas cards.

Jokes beside i know a few stores with a terminal to print pictures on photo paper cheaply.

Almost no one does film (outside professional/ artists) and i doubt develop many people know how to manually develop their own anymore, even during the golden days of film my dad just brought them to the store who developed the film professionally for you. Thats one store still exists.

I remember being given a camera on summer camp. It had 20 pictures i could take and it cost just as much for a failed or good picture.

  • The same day is the time between your main sleeping moment.

Breakfast is the meal you have before lunch on the same day.

Lunch is the meal you have before dinner on the same day.

Dinner is the meal you have after lunch on the same day.

If you have only one meal a day its none of the above and just called having “food”.

    Hope that clears things up.

  • It became downright personal for me. Its about accessibility.

My brain works a certain non typical way which is challenging to live with at best.

Sudden advertisements hits me like a physical punch in my face.

The ui focus on everything new rather then a nice subscription view with filters meant i who does not watch daily would frequently miss new uploads from the channels i do like.

I felt like i was in a toxic relationship being pushed to watch on their terms while openly hating that i protect myself from ad-sault by using blockers.

I realize i did not need things to be this way and am smart enough to build and alternative.

Now i have a yt-dlp script downloaded the latest uploads from chosen channels straight to jellyfin and also a selfhosted invidious with custom tweaks for everything i dont want to spend storage space on.

Basicly i take 100% of what i liked and never have to visit the website directly again.

They are waging war on invidious, it breaks on occasion. Yt-dlp though, stable as a rock.

  • I may have heard a similar thing on a video that compared an elephant sized mouse with a mouse sized elephant.

Neither could survive because evolution designed their bodies for the relative pressure they exist in. This is also related to how fast their hearth beats go.

Human sized bugs could not exist for the same pressure reason also.

Disclaimer: i am as much an expert on this as are you. Source is the internet. Possibility Kurtzgesagt.

People want the means to survive, grow and live in comfort. Just because we live in a capitalist dystopia does not mean the current requirement to live is what we want.

If you have all of those and somehow cant find a passion that creates value i rather have you sit at home and do nothing because i have no expectation the work will be of any quality.

Of course you wouldn’t sit at home and do nothing because that would be boring and people with the means to be mentally and physically healthy expect more of themselves.

Point to the “dirty” jobs like swiping the streets and i’ll point to the volunteers doing a much better job keeping things clean then the career people. Passion and the inherent desire to make things better is everything.

All the important cyber security stuff is free software nowadays, because it is superior software in every possible way you can measure.
