The country’s Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp resigned on Friday, followed by his NSC party members. Now, only two of the original four parties remain in the coalition.
Having a spine tends to cause a stir in a space where most people have none.
This so-called ‘good governance’ party showed how much of a spine they have by forming a cabinet with one of the most anti-good governance parties, Wilders’ PVV. They then refused to put an end to it when one of their own State Secretaries (below a Minister), a Moroccan Dutchwoman, resigned after the Maccabi riots in Amsterdam, because of what she called ‘polarising manners of behavior’ (‘omgangsvormen’) within the cabinet. The cabinet had been hostile to muslim Dutch people in the open, so it’s unlikely to have been much better on the inside.
Anyway, NSC had their chance then to still draw a line and put an end to the cabinet. They chose to stay instead. Whatever spine they could have still claimed to have had, whithered away quickly then.
