Canadian here, can confirm. I never watched the show myself but I haven’t seen any ads for it in many years (though I also haven’t seen many ads in years in general to be fair). No one talks about it anymore either.

Funny, I’m close to the opposite. My boy cat is named after a god (Apollo, Greek god) and my girl cat is named after my favourite drink (Islay, scotch from Islay, Scotland).
Buy a DE safety razor. The initial razor isn’t as cheap as some other options but blades are dirt cheap. The standard recommendation for a safety razor is the Merkur 34C, though I’ve never used it. I’m currently using the Henson AL13 and it’s fantastic, plus it’s made in Canada which was the main selling point for me. My wife loves the AL13 too, she has super sensitive skin plus a lot of skin issues and she hasn’t had any problems shaving with it, where she would normally have burning and itching for days. It’s not on the cheaper end but also not luxury prices either.
I guess I’d fall into the medium savvy category by your definition. I’m running Linux and for the most part it’s been relatively smooth but there have been lots of things I’ve needed to look up. I’d like to be more tech savvy and that’s part of the reason I’m running Linux and use lemmy, but I do agree the middle ground is the hardest for Linux.
