I mean I get that it sucks that ICE agents of any level are well paid, but why are we comparing supervisory roles to entry level? School administrators are paid pretty highly too…

I think this part ties it together?

Both jobs require ZERO education requirement.

Do nurses and teachers get hired at any level with zero education requirement?

Do nurses and teachers get hired at any level with zero education requirement?

A number of states have tried exempting teaching positions from higher education requirements.

In response to Oklahoma’s continued teacher shortage, lawmakers passed a measure that no longer requires educators to have a college degree in order to teach permanently in public schools.

All a prospective educator needs now is a high school diploma and “distinguished qualifications” in their field to make them eligible to teach full time in K-12 classrooms. Those individuals don’t have to work toward a teaching certificate or take college classes, and legislators gave local districts latitude to determine what meets the “distinguished qualifications” threshold.

Why does the education level matter? Plenty of important jobs don’t require more than a high school diploma. They are not lesser because of it. If ICE’s job was handing out puppies to depressed people to cheer them up then I wouldn’t give a fuck that you didn’t need a college degree to do that. Heck some states have been so desperate for teachers/nurses that the education requirements have been largely dropped for those too.

The problem with ICE isn’t that it requires little education or that it’s well-paid, it’s that it’s whole purpose is being inhumane.

Also you need WAY more teachers and nurses per capita than you do concentration camp guards / administrators. In fact there are lots of valid-sounding reasons for the disparity seen here. And like, everyone here knows it’s all bullshit & the reason is because the suppression of education is the free space in “fash bingo”. But the uninformed observers sure are easily satisfied with those damned easy answers, aren’t they.

Teaching is a noble profession. People will do it for minimal compensation. “You can tell this by the way that it is.”

Trading your soul and being asked to commit atrocities on the cheap is a hard sell. They’ll need to pay them so well they are afraid to lose such a lucrative gig and will abandon their morals for it. A shit economy actually strengthens this effect further.

Can I take the job for a while and be comically inept and borderline corrupt like Colonel Klink in Hogans Heroes?

“WERE PAYING YOU OVER $300,000 A YEAR AND YOU HAVE HAD 50% ESCAPES!?!”

          “Yeah… its the damnedest thing…”

If you think you can do so and not be found out, charged with treason and summarily executed like the people who did similar in Nazi occupied territory. If you don’t think you are comfortable with that possibility, probably best to avoid the situation.

This is among the dumbest things that I regularly hear.

I’ve also heard that kids will work in mines for minimal compensation because it’s so noble.

Moral bullshit in service to capitalist oppression.

Trading your soul and being asked to commit atrocities on the cheap is a hard sell.

It’s a very easy sell for fascists without a soul. It’s literally what they’ve been organizing for. It’s a fundamental platform of their daddy.

Adults have more agency than children. We know teachers will work for less because they do. We also know some adults take advantage of children, because they do. They arent related.
